EICR & Consumer Unit Upgrade carried out in Stowmarket by JDH Electrics. A full & comprehensive Electrical Installation Condition Report highlighted several observations leading to remedial action being recommended. We found several potentially dangerous situations including circuits that could become overloaded, incorrect wire terminations and high earth readings. The RCD was found to be inoperative, and the earth rod earth reading was around 300 ohms. The cooker was connected via a 13A plug onto the sockets circuit – we re-wired it onto a dedicated cooker circuit. At the same time there were several broken ring circuits and loose connections, a consumer unit upgrade was carried out as part of the remedial works. Whilst there we installed a Hager RCBO consumer unit, including a Type 2 surge protection device. The works have now been fully certified, and a building control notice made to the local authority.
