Electric to Shed SummerHouse Garage Outbuilding

JDH Electrics can provide Electric to your Shed, SummerHouse, Garage or Outbuilding. A distribution circuit is installed using an Armoured cable to a sub fuse-board. Providing power to suit your requirements e.g. sockets, lights or a hot tub. Now, the cabling can either be cleated to brickwork, dug into the ground, or ran between buildings using tensioned, catenary wire.

Also cables can also be ran in electrical conduit – either white, black, or galvanised steel.

Inside the shed, summer house, garage or outbuilding wiring can be carried out, either in surface mounted conduit / trunking. However, the cables can be hidden in the structure of the stud walls also. This can be done prior to any insulation and boarding being put in. The cables can provide power for sockets, lights, down-lights or outside lighting etc.

What is a Sub Main / Distribution Circuit?

A sub main is the former terminology for a distribution circuit. It is a circuit that comes from a consumer unit / fuse board feeding to another.

How much power can I have?

There are various factors involved that determine how much power you can have in your shed, summer house or garage. For example the size of the incoming capacity at the property. Also what is already being used and the route / length of cable to your outbuilding. Quite simply the longer the run the larger the cable will need to be. This is due to volt drop, also the more it will cost. If you only need a few sockets and lights on a short run, the cable can be smaller. More Juicy appliances require more power, such as an Electric Vehicle or Hot Tub they require larger cables.
