Minor Works

‘Minor’ works are non-notifiable to building control and include:

Replacing accessories such as socket-outlets, control switches and ceiling roses
Replacing the cable for a single circuit only, where damaged, for example, by fire, rodent or impact
Re-fixing or replacing the enclosures of existing installation components
Providing mechanical protection to existing fixed installations
Installing or upgrading main or supplementary equipotential bonding
Work that is not in a kitchen or special location and does not involve a special installation and consists of:
– adding lighting points (light fittings and switches) to an existing circuit
– adding socket-outlets and fused spurs to an existing ring or radial circuit

Major Works

‘Major’ works are notifiable to building control (which we do on your behalf) and include:

The installation of a new circuit
The replacement of a consumer unit (fusebox)
Any alteration or addition to an existing circuit in a special location such as a room containing a bath or shower, swimming pool or a sauna heater

An alteration or addition to an existing circuit in a room containing a bath or shower is notifiable only where carried out in the space surrounding a bath or shower.

An alteration or addition anywhere within a room containing a swimming pool or sauna heater is notifiable.

We can install new circuits almost anywhere in the house or garage – either recessed & hidden or surfaced mounted circuits to your requirements. Including circuits for; showers, kitchen appliances and cookers, socket outlets, or additional lighting.

Re-wire

JDH Electrics provides a house rewiring service that covers all forms of electrical installation and testing from design, construction to inspection & testing. Our electricians provide wiring services to add new or additional plug sockets or fit new lights. Larger home rewiring projects, including wiring new rooms or re-wiring older residential buildings, are a speciality – ask us for a Free quote. Moreover we can also check any existing wiring giving it a thorough inspection to ensure effective and safe electrical performance in your domestic property.

Consumer Unit Replacement / Fuseboxes / Fuse boards

Residential fuseboxes must be maintained and inspected regularly to provide assurance of safety in the household. Our domestic electricians can work on installing new fuse boards where required, likewise checking the circuit breaking devices to ultimately improve home safety and decrease the risk of fire in the event of electricity overload, consequently helping prevent fires.
